Toshiba Announces 1G SD Card and 512 Megabyte High Speed SD Card
Toshiba have today announced the availability of a new 1GB Secure Digital memory card, and also a high speed 512MB card, using 90 nanometer NAND flash technology.
The new 1GB SD uses Toshiba's new 8 gigabit(3) (Gb) Multi-Level Cell (MLC) NAND memory ICs, eliminating the need for advanced stacking technology to achieve this high density, and providing high cost/performance value.
The 512MB high speed card uses the older 4Gb Single Level Cell (SLC) NAND Flash chip, but is able to achieve a maximum write speed of 10MB/sec.(4) and a sustained write speed of 5MB/sec.
The 1GB standard SD Card and 512MB High Speed SD Cards are available now, priced at $350 (USD) and $225 (USD) respectively.
