Here's a definition that I found on Google:
"A memory format. A removable, chewing gum sized smartcard produced by Sony. Compatible with most of Sony's extensive portable digital range, but not with equipment produced by other manufacturers. Capacities range from 4MB to 128MB."

The definition above is a bit outdated now for two main reasons:
- Sandisk also produce memory sticks now
- the largest standard Sandisk Memory Stick is 256MB with memory select (has two inbuilt 128MB chips, so you can choose which one to write data to). Sandisk currently have a 2GB Memory Stick Pro.
